I wrote my first website in a text editor in 2006, back before anybody had conceived of responsive design, when rounded corners had to be DIYed with tiny images, and every project had to have the blessing of Internet Explorer 6.
At first, web development was just a side job and favorite hobby while I studied to be a mathematician. Three years into my PhD program at UW, I realized I had it backwards. I left Seattle with a master’s degree instead, bicycled down the coast from Canada to Mexico, and found my way back to my hometown Corvallis.
I like to spend a few months every year traveling around on foot or by bicycle. When I’m in Oregon, I enjoy mushroom hunting, birdwatching, baking, and armchair cycling and mountaineering.
